Responsive Rich Media Ads are creative display ad units that are interactive. They can include video files, expand and provide direct access to functions native to a desktop computer, smartphones, and tablets. These creative display ad units can also connect to social media, calendars, and other functions, like printers and email. All interactions are measurable and reportable, giving you a deeper understanding of ad views, social sharing, coupons printed and more.
- Uses animation of still images blended with calls to action as a part of the display ad creative

- The higher the quality of your original image files, the better the results
- Image files can be uploaded for use as display ad or overlays
- For image files used as overlays, the maximum size limit is 500MB
- For image files used as display ads, the maximum size limit is 1MB
- Flash is accepted but not recommended for multi-platform campaigns

Static Ad Specifications
Ads must be 72 dpi, sized to the pixel dimensions, saved as either GIF, PNG, or JPG format, and have a file size within range. A border should be included on any advertisement with a white background. Ads that will run in email newsletters must be GIF or JPG only (not Flash animated ads). Generally, an animated GIF must be static after 15 seconds.
Flash Ad Specifications (SWF)
Our standard Flash version is Flash 8 and all prior versions are acceptable. ActionScript 3.0 is not recommended; use ActionScript 2.0. In order to run on cleveland.com, the ad must become completely static after 15 seconds – all animation must stop. A static backup GIF or JPG will be required in case the user does not have a Flash player installed. FLA files may be required for troubleshooting purposes, especially if the ad was not built to spec. If asked to provide a FLA file, please include the fonts and raster images used within the advertisement.
A clickTAG is the standard parameter used in Flash ads. The parameter is a variable that defines the destination URL from the markup code. By using a clickTAG, the advertiser can easily see and modify the URL without a Flash developer. All Flash ads must use the following clickTAG tracking method to deliver properly on our site.

Single Unit
- JPG/GIF only. No Flash. No animation.No Third party tags.
- Dimensions: 1280-1680 pixels wide, 800-1600 pixels high
- The center content well plus the white space on either side of it will knock out the center 1002px on the single image. While not necessary, you can leave this center part of the image white or a solid color to reduce file size.
- Max file size: 100k max RECOMMENDED file size (We will accept 200k if absolutely necessary, but the page can be slow to load and this might negatively affect performance – please make file sizes as small as possible.)
Tiled Unit
- JPG/GIF only. No Flash. No animation. No Third party tags.
- Dimensions: 100×100 to 200×200 (can be rectangular within those height and width limitations)
- Max file size: 10k
- Company Logo Only, No Extra Text
